Hardwood floor refinishing removes the old finish layer, corrects surface wear, and seals the wood under a new protective coat. It is the right call when a floor looks dull, scratched, or faded. It also makes sense when you want a different color or sheen without replacing boards that are still sound. We refinish both solid hardwood and engineered hardwood floors.

A hardwood floor can only be sanded a limited number of times, so each refinish should count. That is why we match the sanding level, color plan, and finish system to your floor’s condition and the way the room is used, not to a one-size template. Every level includes dust control: machines connected to HEPA vacuum systems (90–95% dust capture) and plastic-film containment of exposed areas. It is part of the process, not a paid upgrade. Corners and stair treads are finished with palm sanders and hand scrapers to avoid swirl marks.

Which Wood Floors Can Be Refinished?

Solid hardwood

Can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its life: oak, maple, cherry, and most exotic species included. If your floor is solid wood with a polyurethane finish, it can almost certainly be refinished.

Engineered hardwood

Depends on the wear layer. As a working rule, a veneer of 2 mm or more allows careful sanding; anything thinner and sanding risks cutting through the wood. In that case a recoat (or replacement) is the honest recommendation, and we’ll tell you which during the assessment.

Vinyl plank

Isn’t raw wood, so it can’t be sanded and refinished. If a vinyl floor is worn through, replacement is the practical path.
