We specialize in hardwood floor installation, refinishing and repair in Sudbury and what we recommend is based on what the house in front of us actually needs. According to the town housing profile compiled by MAPC, most of Sudbury’s housing stock is postwar, with about 36 percent of units built between 1960 and 1979, another 21 percent between 1940 and 1959, and 8.7 percent dating to before 1939. In practical terms, that means: ranches, split-levels, garrison colonials and Capes with red oak strip floors that are now on their second or third refinish, plus a smaller number of antique homes inside the Town Center, Wayside Inn, King Philip and George Pitts Tavern local historic districts. If you live in one, it’s good to know: the Historic Districts Commission reviews changes visible from a public street, way or place, so interior floor work does not need a Certificate of Appropriateness.

When the Trio isn’t the right choice, our Epoch HD fine buffer with a six-head metal attachment removes the surface layer from several angles at once and clears the chatter a regular buffer leaves behind, at about 28–43 hours per 1,000 sq ft. About 5% of flooring companies in Massachusetts have the Trio and about 15% have the six-head system.
